No matter where I go and who I meet, there are always the standard questions everyone wants to know about America because I’m an American. Sometimes I feel like a monkey behind a cage, everyone looking inside wanting to look at it and ask questions about why it’s doing what it’s doing. But I remind myself, everyone is just curious about the American culture and people, and they want to hear it straight from the source.

Nashville has been titled the “IT” city and it’s no wonder. Music is amazing. Food is delish. The party never stops. Music is off the hook and street art is endless! On our recent visit to Nashville, I added a few more murals to my post AND I share with you ADDRESSES to make it easier for you to find! Around every corner you can find Instagram-worthy street art making for hours of fun without breaking the bank!

Have you ever wondered where retired famous thoroughbred horses go after their racing career is over? Probably not. The answer more gruesome than some would like to know about can be stopped. Tucked away out in the lush countryside between Lexington and Louisville is an animal sanctuary where retired horses can frolic happily through the […]

Many people have mentioned that they had never even considered visiting Kentucky before as they wouldn’t know what to do there. Is there anything to DO in Kentucky?

Until recently I also was under the same impression. The only thing I knew about Kentucky prior to visiting was that the Kentucky Derby and KFC originate from, of all things… Kentucky! Beyond that, I had no idea what there was to see or do.

While recently visiting family for the holidays in Kentucky, we often visited Louisville (Luha-ville) and each time we drove through town, there was a new and exciting piece of street art on the side of a building. While it took me longer to get into street art than others most likely, I’ve come around the appreciate a good wall mural with my favorites tending to be vibrant or with florals and the occasional wings. I especially appreciate an interactive wall mural as it adds some  spice to sightseeing!

Kentucky is currently experiencing what has recently become known as the “Bourbon Boom”. The Bourbon industry is experiencing an increase in production and popularity as it has bounced back from the “Bourbon Depression”. As the Bourbon industry has grown, so has tourism. What better way to learn about the Bourbon industry and history in Kentucky than to follow the Bourbon Trail! Stretching over 200 miles throughout bourbon country, there’s no better way to experience a road trip through Kentucky than by doing bourbon distillery tours!

Update: Recently, Lonely Planet named The #KYBourbonTrail as one of their Top 10 destinations to visit in the US in 2018!! Bourbonism and tourism to Kentucky now go hand in hand, so let’s get your Bourbon Vacation rollin’!

When you still live at home, surrounded by other fellow Americans and you see someone put Ranch on their pizza, apologize too many times or go for a long road trip, you think nothing of it. These are just some of the natural things we do in America. It’s part of our culture. But when […]

In the summer of 2012, I made my solo journey, with a one way ticket to Germany to teach English abroad and travel through Europe. I had planned to stay for no more than 5 years, but not less than 1.

But suddenly my life changed and I found myself staying longer than planned. And now, the internal fight of where “home” is ping pongs my heart back and forth.

Having spent 3 beautiful years in Montana, I have finally gathered some of my best pictures and moments of my life while I went from city slicker to down home country!

Commonly referred to as “Big Sky Country” or “The Last Best Place”, Montana is the fourth largest state but comes in 44th in population! That’s a whole lotta space to run wild and not worry about rubbin’ elbows with someone.

When I say things to do in Montana, I mean mostly around Flathead Valley, near Kalispell, Whitefish and Glacier National Park but most of what I am about share can be applied to just about anywhere in the beautiful state.
